Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, John Barry is most famous for popularizing the use of the household oil WD-40. Through clever marketing and advertising, Barry took WD-40 from an industrial product to a household product, used in 80 percent of American homes. In 2009, Barry died from pulmonary fibrosis in San Diego, California, at the age of 84.
